Visiting Policies
Visiting hours at the Komansky Center for Children's Health are 9:00 AM. to 8:00 PM. Visitors must receive a pass at the reception area of the Greenberg Pavilion, where the Komansky Center is located. All visitors must show a valid photo identification (e.g., driver's license, passport) before they will be issued a pass to the patient care area.
- We welcome the comforting presence and support of parents during a child's hospitalization and, therefore, allow one parent (or guardian) to stay overnight. A lounge chair or pull-out bed is available. To prevent accidents and allow for the care of your child, we require sufficient room between the chair/bed and the child's bed. Because physician rounds begin early in the morning, we request that the chair is upright or the bed is put away by 7:30 AM. We also suggest that parents wear comfortable street clothing at night, rather than nightgowns or pajamas.
- While one parent may stay at all times, the other parent may remain at bedside until 10:00 PM.
- Visiting for all others over the age of 14 is during regular visiting hours. Brothers and sisters under the age of 14 may visit with prior approval of the charge nurse or Patient Care Director. Parental supervision during these visits is required and the visits should be limited to 2 hours. If you are interested in planning a sibling visit, please speak to your nurse or Patient Care Director to make arrangements.
- In the interest of the patient's safety, the number of visitors should be limited to no more than two at a time. A lounge is located at the entrance of the Pediatric Unit, which is available for all pediatric patients and their parents and visitors.
- Visitors who have colds are other infections should stay at home until they are well.
- If your child is a patient in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), please check with her/his nurse because the ICU may have special guidelines for that visit.
