Prenatal Diagnosis

The Perinatal Center offers our patients the latest technologies to diagnose problems in fetal development. We also provide the full range of genetic testing as well as counseling for parents and prospective parents.

Our ares of expertise includes the following:

Invasive Testing
In some cases, abnormalities in the development of a fetus require a physician to perform an invasive procedure during pregnancy, such as chorionic villus sampling (CVS) or amniocentesis. [More]
Fetal Sonography
Our specialists perform detailed evaluation of fetal anatomy in the second trimester, and can identify or exclude many types of birth defects. First-trimester ultrasound, commonly performed to evaluate the risk of genetic abnormalities, has allowed us to detect some major abnormalities before the second trimester. [More]
Fetal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging provides a more detailed and accurate image than can be obtained with ultrasound. With a confirmed diagnosis, early identification of candidates for fetal or post-delivery neurosurgery can occur. [More]
Genetics
The staff of the Division of Human Genetics provides an individualized array of genetic services including genetic counseling to address the unique needs of each family. [More]
